Monday 8th ,September 2008 Sunday Lunch at Choices Suze and I enjoyed the roast chicken dinner very much, it came with the full works, roasties, stuffing, yorkshire pud, parsnips, green beans, carrots and gravy. It was a full half chicken so Suze struggled a bit (I didn't have a problem) I washed it down with 3 pints of the black stuff. I returned later in the evening with Fred and we had a couple of pints and a good chinwag. Posted by Chris CoatesPosted : 09:35 post comment

Wednesday 3rd ,September 2008 pre-packed salad rant I am a passionate hater of pre-washed salads - What is so wrong with buying a nice normal lettuce and peeling the leaves of and waching them yourselves.
I mean it doesn't take that long and you know what you are getting, especially if you buy organic, or get it from someone who has an allotment (like us) or better still grow it yourself (it's so easy - trust me)
Pe-washed salads have been sprayed up to 20 times with pesticides and then when they are processed they are then washed in bleach to ensure that the odd caterpiller or other harmless insect ends up in the bag. BLEACH yes you read it right, the caustic stuff you use to clean the toilet goes on your salad leaves !
Oh and now it looks like that you're very likely to get food poisoning too
Take my advice - grow your own. You have been warned. Posted by Chris CoatesPosted : 11:09 post comment
Monday 1st ,September 2008 I'm no fishmonger I went fishing on a small boat out of Stellendam yesterday. There were 10 of us on the boat and 2 crew.
I caught quite a few fish and 8 of the cod were keepers so I've just spent this evening filleting them. I went out and bought a filet knife and ceramic "steel" I then watched a you tube video showing how a professional does it. I've now got 14 skinless boneless fillets (albeit a bit scraggy) in the freezer.
Suze is creating something with the best two and some of our allotment tomatoes, onions & garlic. It's such a feeling of achievement when you've provided every component on your plate. Posted by Chris CoatesPosted : 17:51 post comment

Wednesday 20th ,August 2008 scarface Suze and I went back home for the weekend, I met up with my brother, ate pies, went to the bookies (he won, I lost), drank beer, watched the footy on TV and ate Chinese. On the Sunday I met up with my mate Pete and we drank lots of beer and watched the footy on TV and ate lots of crisps.
Suze saw all her lot and managed to get everything she needed buying for her niece's wedding in September.
She also got bitten on the face by her sister's dog and spent 2 hours in A&E.
To top it all off we got stuck in traffic and missed our flight back to Amsterdam so had to pay 70 quid to change the tickets for the later flight. We then had to spend 6 hours waiting for the later flight in the pub :-) Posted by Chris CoatesPosted : 11:02 post comment
Friday 15th ,August 2008 cough cough I've had an irritating cough for the last 10 days, I finally got around to going to the Doctors and she said that it looked like I'd had a throat infection and my cough should clear up in a few weeks. She did prescribe me some pills though to suppress the coughing at night which will no doubt please the missus. Posted by Chris CoatesPosted : 10:20 post comment
Friday 8th ,August 2008 Amsterdam Tournament 2008 Karlis and I are off once more to the Arena to watch Arsenal play Ajax. We're meeting up with some of the lads from work and have got tickets in the Ajax end so we'll have to be careful not to cheer when Arsenal score. Should be a laugh anyway. Tuesday 5th ,August 2008 Gonad I'm now a G.O.N.A.D, and by my reckoning the 18th one and the 1st from Holland. Apparently I got extra points for my cheesey toasty microwavey bagels. (I'll explain later but it has a lot to do with beer and a very mad person) Posted by Chris CoatesPosted : 18:53 post comment

Sunday 3rd ,August 2008 A new record Whilst at the allotment I tend to attract hosre flies for some reason. These insidious beasts land on one and then take a big chunk of flesh out of one's body parts. Luckily I am now finely tuned to the little feckas and manage to kill them as they land and before they chomp. On Saturday I squished 17 of the barstewards - an all time record I believe.
